Every business has a story. This is ours.

The name Blue Pennant has been part of my family for over three generations.

My great grandfather grew up in Monmouth, Wales, where Blue Pennant sandstone is famous for its incredible strength and durability, having shaped the region’s architecture for centuries. Inspired by the stone and everything it represented, he named his business Blue Pennant Properties.

As a young man, he and his brother decided to leave Wales to build a future elsewhere. They flipped a coin to decide where life would take them.

Heads… London.
Tails… Coventry.
The coin landed on tails.

That single coin toss changed the course of our family’s history.

My great grandfather went on to become a respected master house builder in Coventry, establishing Blue Pennant Properties and building homes across the city.

Growing up, my dad spent countless weekends and school holidays working alongside his grandad on building sites, learning the trade and developing the work ethic that would shape his own career.

Years later, after qualifying as a skilled joiner and carpenter, he founded Blue Pennant Builders, continuing the family tradition within the construction industry.

Today, he’s still doing what he loves.

He’s now the main contractor behind all of our HMO conversions, managing our refurbishment projects alongside his own independent building business.
Property has always been in our family, so when I decided to build a property business of my own, there was only ever going to be one name.

With my dad’s blessing, Blue Pennant Property Investment was born.

Today we’re focused on strategic property acquisitions, high-end HMOs, apartment blocks and long-term capital partnerships, but the values behind the business remain exactly the same as they were all those years ago.

Hard work.
Integrity.
Creating quality homes.

Sometimes I look at where we are today and think…

If that coin had landed on heads, none of this would exist.

A New Direction

Like many businesses, the hospitality industry faced significant challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the time, Dan was heavily involved within the live entertainment sector whilst also raising a young family.

With the industry changing rapidly and the future uncertain, it became clear that a new direction was
needed.

Property had always been an area of interest, but without significant capital behind him it felt more like a long-term ambition than a realistic business opportunity.

Everything changed when Dan committed to intensive property education and mentorship, investing heavily in learning the acquisition, finance and investment strategies that would eventually become the foundation of Blue Pennant.

What started as education quickly became action.

The Book That Changed Everything

Although already investing in property and working alongside joint venture partners, a defining moment came whilst reading Rich Dad Poor Dad during a family holiday. The book fundamentally changed the way Dan viewed:

  • Assets
  • Cashflow
  • Leverage
  • Long-term wealth creation

It reinforced many of the lessons already being learned through practical experience whilst providing a completely new perspective on how wealth is built through ownership. During that same holiday, offers were submitted on two separate properties. Both were accepted. The momentum created during that period has never really stopped.

Whilst Coventry and Warwickshire remain our core market today, we continue to explore opportunities throughout the UK where strong fundamentals and value creation potential exist.
